CORTLANDVILLE, NY (607NewsNow) – More jobs could be coming to Cortlandville.
Byrne Dairy recently shared preliminary plans for a multi-phase expansion with the Cortlandville Town Planning Board. Building on the 2022 completion of the first phase, the $34 million second phase (broken into two parts) would see the addition of over 100,000 square feet of space and up to 100 new jobs.
Company officials shared the following summaries of Phase 2A and Phase 2B.
Phase 2A
Phase 2A will consist of the construction of an additional 26,000+ square feet of production space to accommodate additional blending and batching equipment. Phase 2A will also include the installation of three additional stainless-steel silos on the existing silo pad on the westerly side of the existing facility. Phase 2A will require minimal site work and will not require any other modifications of the facility or site. Phase 2A will begin immediately upon approval by the Town of Cortlandville and will be completed within six months of the start of construction. Upon completion of construction and installation and commissioning of equipment, 6 new jobs will be created, bringing total employment up to 116 jobs at the site. Total cost of Phase 2A is anticipated to be approximately $10 million.

Phase 2B
Phase 2B will consist of considerable site work changes as well as the construction and equipping of approximately 74,650+ square feet of production space to accommodate additional filling lines. Phase 2B will be an extension westerly of Phase 2A. Site modifications will include
- installation of a new truck access road from Byrne Hollow Crossing to accommodate inbound and outbound truck traffic
- relocation of the truck scale from its current location on Osbeck Circle
- abandonment of Osbeck Circle by the Town of Cortlandville to accommodate the expanded facility
- relocation of employee parking to the northeast of the facility to eliminate vehicular/pedestrian conflict. New lot will have 277 parking spaces with new access point from Byrne Hollow Crossing being developed
- creation of a truck loading/parking/staging lot to align with new load out locations from the facility
If approved, construction would reportedly begin in the Spring.
Phase 3 and Phase 4 would only move forward “determined by numerous business and economic factors.” The facility would see significant changes in both phases, represented by an approximately $86 million investment that would see an additional 194 jobs added.
