ITHACA, NY (607NewsNow) — Five Democratic legislators in Tompkins County are leaving.

In a joint statement, Legislators Amanda Champion, Susan Currie, Deborah Dawson, Dan Klein, and Anne Koreman say they won’t run for another term after their time on the Legislature ends in December.

“We appreciate the hard work of both the Tompkins County Legislature, as well as County Government as a whole, and are grateful to our constituents who have entrusted us with these positions for many years. We look forward to seeing the next group of Legislators carry on the work of good governance,” the legislators said.

Every seat on the Tompkins County Legislature is up at the end of 2025, and next year will see the addition of two legislative seats and new district lines based on 2020 U.S. Census data.

Legislator Shawna Black told WHCU on Monday she’s running for a third term.
