HOMER, NY (607NewsNow) — The Village of Homer will have a new leader in 2025.

Mayor Hal McCabe is stepping down to become the district director for Congressman-elect Josh Riley. Village trustees are expected to name Deputy Mayor Patrick Clune as the new mayor.

At Tuesday’s Board of Trustees meeting, McCabe praised Clune.

“You can always count on him, he’s level-headed,” he said. “He’s great dealing with people.”

McCabe’s last day as mayor will be Dec. 31. He said he’s “very excited” about his new job.
