ITHACA, N.Y. (WHCU) — Assemblymember Anna Kelles hopes to save Ithaca CarShare from shutting down.
The service is at risk of closure, because of insurance issues. Kelles tells WHCU the trouble stems from lawmakers in Albany.
She’s introducing a bill that would help nonprofits get insurance.
“It would enable carshares to move forward and prosper in New York State, and would help them survive,” Kelles says. “Because right now if this doesn’t happen, then Ithaca CarShare will have to close its doors.”
Ithaca CarShare launched in 2008.
