CORTLAND, NY (CortacaToday) — Joe Reagan, owner of Royal Auto Group in Cortland, has been inducted into the Cortlandville Hall of Fame.

Born and raised here and the owner of Royal Auto Group for thirty-one years, Reagan has been involved heavily in the community for some time now. The Cortland Youth Bureau, Meals on Wheels, and the Renzi Cancer Center are a few of the many organizations that see significant help from the business.

“It’s my belief that if you do business in a community, you have a responsibility to give back to it. If you take money out of a community, you should also be putting it back in,” Reagan says.

Every year, Royal Auto Group helps dozens of nonprofit organizations as they’re the places that could use the funds the most. They don’t typically have a goal or plan in mind when giving away money, and instead just aim to put money where it’s needed in the community.

“We don’t donate to get anything out of it, we do it because it’s important. We don’t sell cars off a lot of the things we do, but that’s not what it’s about, it’s because it’s the right thing to do for the place we live.”

Being memorialized in the community is a high honor, though Reagan was unfortunately out of town for the induction ceremony.

“This community is awesome, it’s a great place to do business. The people who volunteer their time for the organizations we support are very special people. You can always donate money but you can’t get time back, so those who make time to help out are extremely important. This community is small, but the people here really care.”
