ITHACA, NY (CortacaToday) – No injuries were reported after an early morning fire in Collegetown.
Around 4:59 a.m. on Wednesday, October 2, 2024, the Ithaca Fire Department was alerted to an alarm activation and odor of smoke at 305 Eddy Street. When firefighters arrived minutes later, no visible flames were showing on the exterior of the building.
Responders tracked the smoke to a third-floor utility room where they extinguished a smoldering fire in the subfloor. A boiler, some walls, and floors were removed to ensure the blaze didn’t spread. Crews spent about 90 minutes airing the building out and monitoring it for carbon monoxide.
It was deemed safe for residents to reenter shortly after 6:30 a.m.
